Christian Action Responding To Emergencies
CARE is a domestic mission effort providing local, state, and regional disaster assistance in the form of tree removal services and debris clean-up. Disaster clean-up services can be expensive and in short supply. After a recent tornado in West Tennesseee, one elderly woman was charged $4,000 just to make one cut and lower the tree to ground with no other service.
CARE services are offered first to the elderly, disabled, and church members and then to the general public. All services are free of charge but recipients are welcome to make a donation to the disaster relief program.

The primary goal is to relieve the logistic and visual stresses
caused by by these disasters and restore a clean and safe environment
for residents and emergency personnel. Utility companies (electric,
water and structural) will not come on a site and start repairs until
all objects are removed (not touching) from structures.
Members
of the Smyrna Church of Christ have teamed with members of Saint Marks
Methodist Church for several years in providing these services. The
Saint Marks facility provides a storage area for vehicles and tools
used in this relief effort. All types of workers are needed for this
mission effort: tree cutters, limb draggers, organizers, group
directors, food and water servers, safety managers, equipment
maintenance providers, clean-up crews, drivers, donations and supplies.
If
you would like to volunteer or have a need for this service, please
contact Wayne Anderson, Vick Zacharias or one of the Elders at the
Smyrna Church of Christ.
